Central Board of Secondary Education has issued guidelines for submission of List of candidates (LOC) for class 10th phase 2 board exam 2026 and the exams will be held in May 2026. This step is a part of CBSE’s newly introduced two board exam system which was officially announced on 25 June 2025. As per the new policy Class 10th students will get a second opportunity to improve their performance by reappearing in up to three subjects. CBSE Class 10 Phase 2 Board Exam 2026 Datesheet

CBSE 10 Secondary Board Examination is about to start from 15 May 2026 and will continue till 1 June 2026. Students who want to clear compartments or improve their scores in maximum three subjects can appear for the 2nd CBSE board exam for class 10. Check the table given below for all exam dates.

LOC Submission for CBSE 10th Phase 2 Board Exam 2026

CBSE has instructed schools to follow a proper procedure for submitting the List of Candidates(LOC) which is compulsory for students who wish to appear in the Phase 2 Board exam 2026. Schools are advised to register all interested students through LOC submission. As this system is being introduced for the first time in Class 10, CBSE is focusing more on its smooth implementation, so the board wants to collect data such as

  • Number of subjects opted for improvement

  • Make students aware that exam centres may be limited and not always close to their location

CBSE Board Guideline for LOC Fee Submission

Students appearing for phase 2 exams must complete their LOC submission and finish the final choice of appearing and fee payment immediately after the Class 10th results are declared.Those Students who are already placed in the compartment category will need to submit their LOC again check the table below for fee details.

Condition to Appear in CBSE 10th Second Board Examinations

CBSE Board has made some conditions mandatory for the students who are appearing for the CBSE Class 10th phase 2 exams. read the conditions listed below.

(a).It is mandatory for all the students to appear in the first Board examination.

(b).All passed and eligible students are allowed to improve their performance in any of the three subjects out of Science, Mathematics, Social Science and languages.

(c).If a student has not appeared in 3 or more subjects in first examination, then s/he is not eligible to appear in the 2nd examination. Such students are allowed to appear in the main examination only next year in the month of February. Accordingly, they will not able to submit LOC.

(d).For students whose result in the first examination is Compartment, such students are allowed to appear in second examination under Compartment Category.

(e).No new names will be added to the LOC of the 2nd examination.

(f).Subject change are not allowed from first examination to second examinations except permitted as per policy in case of Mathematic.

(g).No correction in the student’s data from first examination second examination is allowed. to (h).Candidates who were registered as CWSN candidate in the first examination will only be extended facilities as provided by the CBSE. No new candidate is allowed under CWSN category in the Second Board Examinations.

Eligibility for CBSE Phase 2 Board Exam 2026

Candidates must first check CBSE Phase 2 exams eligibility criteria so as to ensure they meet the necessary requirements. Check the eligibility criteria listed below.

  • Students must have appeared in the first board examination
  • Improvement is allowed in a maximum of three subjects (Maths, Science, Social Science or Language)
  • Students who missed 3 or more subjects in the first exam are not eligible

  • No correction in student details will be accepted after submission
  • Facilities for (Children with Special Needs) will continue only for those already registered
  • Students who have passed Class 10 and wants to improve their marks
  • Students placed in compartment category
  • Students appearing for first or third chance compartment exam
  • Students improving marks after passing with 6th subject replacement
  • Students under UFM Category 1, if eligible
  • Sports students who have prior approval from CBSE

1) Students who were absent in 3 or more subjects are not eligible

2) Students under the Essential Repeat (ER) Category are not eligible
