Name Mismatch in Aadhaar 10th Mark Sheet?- Check NTA’s New Advisory for CUET UG 2026 Aspirants

The Common University Entrance Test [CUET (UG)]-2026 will be held in May 2026 in 13 mediums across India and abroad
for admission into the Undergraduate Programmes for all the Central Universities (CUs) and participating Universities. As the exam session is approaching, the CUET 2026 registration process is about to start in the month of February, tentatively. The NTA has informed students to update their Aadhaar Card/Disability Certificate/ UDID Card/ Category Certificate (EWS/SC/ST/OBC-NCL) before Filling of Online Application Form via a press release earlier in December.

A huge number of students face the problem that their names mismatch on the Aadhaar Card and the 10th Educational  Certificate/Marksheet, and report the issue to the concerned body. Addressing the issue, NTA issued a new advisory on December 27 that there will have an option will be given to overcome this issue during the online application stage in case of Name Mismatch in Aadhaar 10th Mark Sheet. 

CUET UG 2026: Advisory: NTA addresses the Name Mismatch Issue in Aadhaar 10th Mark Sheet

The National Testing Agency released a Public Notice on December 4, 2025, to let CUET (UG)- 2026 applicants fill out the online application form more easily. This advice aims to help lakhs of applicants around the country by encouraging quick and accurate updates. The NTA will acquire Name, Date of Birth, Gender, Photograph, and Address from UIDAI via Aadhaar Authentication. To update Aadhaar, please follow UIDAI rules.

After the release of the guidelines to update the Aadhaar card before the commencement of the CUET UG Registration process, aspirants are anxious, as updating the Aadhaar as per the UIDAI guidelines is time-consuming and a long administrative process. Still, some students reported the name mismatch issue with the 10th certificate and Aadhaar card details

Along with the advisory, the NTA released the updated Syllabus of CUET (UG)-2026 for all 37 subjects in PDF format. Aspirants are advised to regularly visit the NTA official website(s) (https://nta.ac.in) and (https://cuet.nta.nic.in/) for further updates, instructions, and notices regarding the same.

What documents are needed to update before CUET 2026 Registration

The online application form for CUET (UG)-2026 will be made available on the NTA website https://cuet.nta.nic.in/. To streamline the process for CUET (UG)-2026, all eligible aspirants are advised to ensure that the following documents are updated well in advance/ before applying for the CUET 2026, in order to avoid any discrepancies, grievances, or rejection at a later stage:-

• Aadhaar Card- Aadhaar Card should be updated with the correct name, date of birth (as per class 10th certificate), latest photograph, address and father’s name.
• UDID Card (for Persons with Disabilities)- UDID Card/Disability Certificate should be valid, updated and renewed as required.
• Category Certificate-The category certificate (EWS/SC/ST/OBC-NCL) should be updated and valid.
