To be eligible for the MHT CET 2026 exam, interested candidates must meet the general eligibility requirements as well as the candidature-type criteria listed below.

*This is not necessary for post-10th and 12th degree admissions. However, a backward class candidate who has been admitted to the first/second-year diploma course on restricted seats must submit a completed application form to the respective caste/tribe verification committee within one month of admission.

MHT CET Eligibility Criteria for Direct Admission

Here are candidates who can get direct admission without the MHT CET exam:

  1. NRI/OCI/PIO children, as well as the children of foreign nationals or Indian workers in Gulf nations, are not required to take the MHT CET 2026 exam.
  2. Candidates from Maharashtra State or Minority Candidature must, nevertheless, take the MHT CET 2026 for admission to BE/BTech.
  3. All India candidates may or may not take the exam, as JEE Main results would be preferred over MHT CET 2026 scores for admission to BE/BTech.
  4. For admission to BPharm/PharmD, candidates from Maharashtra State, Minority, and All India categories must take the MHT CET 2026 exam.

MHT CET 2026 Eligibility Based on Candidature and Domicile

To be eligible for the MHT CET 2026 exam, interested candidates must meet the general eligibility requirements as well as the candidature-type criteria listed below.

  3. Children of NRI/OCI/PIO/Indian workers in Gulf Countries, Foreign National (FN) Candidates
  4. Jammu & Kashmir Migrant

Maharashtra State Candidates

Type: A

  • Candidates must be either a resident of Maharashtra or a business owner in the state.
  • Candidates must have completed the SSC, Diploma in Engineering, HSC, or Bachelor of Science exam from a recognised institute in Maharashtra.
  • Passing the Qualifying Exam should take place within the University's jurisdiction.

Type: B

  • Candidates who do not fall within Type A but have a Maharashtrian mother or father. (They must have a domicile certificate.
  • The authority that issues place of domicile certificates must be within the jurisdiction of the appropriate University area.

Type: C

  • Candidates who are not in Type A or Type B but have a mother or parent who works for the Government of India or a government undertaking.
  • Either parent must be posted and reported to duty in Maharashtra by the deadline for MHT CET CAP application submission (which includes the counselling application form).
  • Parents' posting areas must be within the authority of their university.

Type: D

  • Candidates who are not in Type A, B, or C categories but have parents who work or have retired for the Government of Maharashtra or its undertakings.
  • The location of the mother or father's posting, retirement settlement, or last posting outside Maharashtra state falls within the jurisdiction of the university area.

Type: E

  • Candidates who have passed SSC and/or HSC exams from a recognised institution in a disputed Maharashtra-Karnataka border area and speak Marathi as their mother tongue.
  • Candidates were considered for seats beyond their home university or Maharashtra state.

All India Candidates (Al) and Jammu & Kashmir Migrant

Nationality: Candidates must be Indian citizens.

Educational Qualification: 

  1. Candidates must have passed class 10+2 or appear in 2026 with Physics and Mathematics as obligatory courses, with any one of the disciplines - Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Technical/vocational disciplines.  Candidates must have obtained a minimum of 45% (for the General Category).  However, the minimum marks for the reserved category and Persons with Disabilities candidates (only from Maharashtra state) are 40%.

OR

  1. To be eligible for MHT CET, candidates must have completed a Diploma in Engineering and Technology with at least 50% aggregate marks (General category) or 45% aggregate marks (Reserved/Backward Category/Person with Disability belonging to Maharashtra State only).

 OR

  1. Candidates must have earned a B.Sc. degree from a recognised university with at least 45% aggregate marks (for the General category) and at least 40% aggregate marks (for backward classes/people with disabilities residing in Maharashtra State only).  These candidates should have completed their XII class with Mathematics as a subject.

Children of NRI/OCI/PIO/Indian workers in Gulf Countries, Foreign National (FN) Candidates

  • Candidates need to complete HSC or equivalent exams with Physics and Mathematics as obligatory courses, as well as one of Chemistry, Biotechnology, Biology, Technical, or Vocational subjects.
  • They must get at least 45% marks overall.
