Educational Qualifications 5 Year MHCET LLB -
Candidates must have passed 10+2 or equivalent with the required minimum marks. Candidates taking their class 12 examinations in 2026 are also able to apply if they present their qualifying certificates at the time of admission.
Educational Qualifications 3 Year MHCET LLB -
To take the 3-year LLB exam, applicants must have finished their graduation in any stream with the required minimum grades. Candidates taking their graduation examinations in 2026 are also able to apply. However, such candidates must provide their qualifying certificates at the time of admission.

Minimum Marks -
The passing grades for MH CET Law 5 years and MH CET Law 3 years are the same. The minimum marks required for both programmes are 45% for the general and EWS categories, 42% for OBC, and 40% for SC/ST categories.
NOTE - The minimal percentage of marks will be calculated by rounding to two places after the decimal. However, the round-off will only apply to marks higher than the minimum passing grade. The percentage of marks less than the minimum required marks will not be rounded off.
Distance Education -
Candidates who finished their 10th, 12th, and/or graduation through correspondence/distance learning are eligible to apply. Candidates who have finished their 10th and 12th classes through open universities without any fundamental requirements are ineligible to apply.
Non-MH Residents -
Candidates from outside Maharashtra will be considered in the open category, regardless of their caste or category. Such candidates must meet the MH CET law eligibility criteria 2026 set for candidates in the open category.
MHCET Law Eligibility Reservation: Category Types
The MH CET law admission process will follow the reservation criteria established by the CET Cell. To apply for the MH CET Law, candidates must meet the conditions for their respective categories. The reservation categories under the MH CET Law 2026 are outlined below.
Maharashtra State Candidates (MS)
To apply for MS, candidates must have completed their qualifying education (SSC/HSC/graduation) in Maharashtra and meet other eligibility conditions.
Type-A Candidates
candidates have finished 10th, 12th, graduation, or PG from a recognised institute in or outside Maharashtra, and are either domiciled in or born in Maharashtra, as applicable.
Type-B Candidates
candidates are not born or domiciled in Maharashtra, but have a domicile certificate from their parent or mother who lives in the state.
Type-C Candidates
Type C candidates are those who were not born or domiciled in Maharashtra but whose father or mother works for the Government of India or a Government of India Undertaking and has been posted and reported to duty in Maharashtra before the deadline for submitting the CAP application.
Type-D Candidates
Type D candidates completed their qualifying education in Maharashtra but do not meet the criteria mentioned in clause (ii) of "Type-A" or the conditions under Type B or Type C, but whose father or mother is an employee or retired employee of the Government of Maharashtra or a government undertaking.
All India Category Candidates (OMS)
Candidates with Indian citizenship are eligible to apply for the All India or OMS category. Candidates born or domiciled outside Maharashtra and who completed their studies outside Maharashtra will also be considered for the All India (open category). Candidates who finished their qualifying school in Maharashtra but do not have a domicile or birth certificate issued by the Maharashtra government will be considered OMS candidates.
J&K candidates
Candidates from Jammu & Kashmir will also be eligible for reservation.
Minority Candidates
Candidates from language or religious minority groups recognised by the Maharashtra government are eligible to apply under this category.
NRI/Foreign National, OCI/PIO
These individuals do not need to take the MH CET Law 2026 exam. They can register immediately for the MH CET law counselling 2026 process.
MHCET Law Reservation Criteria: Seat Reservation
Some categories, such as economically backward candidates, Service personnel, and others, can benefit from reservation-based benefits such as reduced application and admission fees, as well as access to reserved seats. The categories provided below can complete the Law MHCET application form under the reserved category.

MH CET Law Reservations for Children of Service Personnel
- 5% of seats in an MS quota-approved institution will be reserved for the following groups of applicants:
- Children of former military soldiers live in Maharashtra (Def-1).
- Children of active-duty military personnel living in Maharashtra (Def-2).
- Children of Active Service Personnel who have relocated to Maharashtra but do not stay there (DEF-3).
Reservation for Other Categories
- 5% of the MS quota seats are reserved for candidates who have at least 40% disability.
- For Institute/College admission, 10% of seats will be reserved for EWS applicants over the Maharashtra State Quota.
- Orphan candidates will be allocated 1% of the seats (excluding Minority Institutions and All India Seats, if applicable).
- 30% of the seats will be designated for female candidates (excluding the defence, persons with disabilities, and orphan categories).
