NIOS Board students who are wondering what the instructions are for them in 2026, then you must know that there is no separate form-filling process for open school students.  They must be careful of the following few points:

CUET Application Instructions for NIOS Students

1. Select your board name cautiously from the dropdown menu – “National Institute of Open Schooling”.
2. Choose “Open and Distance Learning” while selecting the type of school.
3. Fill the School Name and Address correctly, for example – “National Institute of Open Schooling, Sector 62, Noida”.
4. Enter roll number / Enrollment no according to the class 12 marksheet.
5. Students can select “Other” if they don’t know the location.

CUET Eligibility for NIOS Students 2026

The CUET exam qualifying criteria for NIOS are the same as others, but you must meet all of them by the deadline.

Educational Qualifications for NIOS

• A candidate must have scored at least 50% on their 12th or equivalent exams from a recognized secondary education board, such as the National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS), with a minimum of five subjects.
• For SC/ST candidates, the minimum percentage drops to 45%.

Other exams that are valid for CUET Applications –

1. Intermediate or two-year pre-university examination administered by a recognized board/university.
2. The two-year course of the National Defence Academy’s Joint Services Wing concludes with the final examination.
   Any private/public school/university examination in India or abroad is only legitimate if it is recognized as equivalent to the 10+2 system by the Association of Indian Universities.
3. A three-year diploma in technical education accredited by AICTE or a state board is also valid.
4. The Advanced (A) level General Certificate Education (GCE) test from London/Cambridge/Sri Lanka is accepted.
5. Cambridge University’s High School Certificate Examination or the International Baccalaureate Diploma.
6. A higher Secondary Certificate in Vocational Studies examination is also valid.

Age Limit for NIOS Students

There is no age limit to apply for CUET exam 2026 as long as you meet all of the educational requirements listed above.

However, a candidate must still meet the age requirements set by their selected university/institution/organization. Candidates should visit the websites of these universities/institutions/organizations regularly for specific information about the age criteria.

Reservation for NIOS Students

According to the rules given forth by the Government of India for the reservation of seats for SC/ST, OBC, and PWD, every university participating in this examination procedure must follow these rules:

• Scheduled Caste – 15%
• Scheduled Tribe – 7.5%
• Other Backward Class (OBC Non-Creamy Layer) -27%
• People with disabilities (PWD) -5%
